Jinx is a Korean BL (Boys’ Love) webtoon for adults, written and drawn by Mingwa and published on the Lezhin platform since 2022. Often mistaken for a manga, this webtoon from South Korea tells the story of a gay romance as raw as it is intense.
The series consists of two seasons and concluded on June 2, 2026, with its final episode (102), which is now available on Lezhin.
To read it : the only official, up-to-date version is on Lezhin (for a fee), but its French translation is only partial. That's why many readers use scan sites like Betomanga or Scan-manga: more complete in French, but unofficial and unstable. We compare them below!
History: we follow Joo Jaekyung, undefeated MMA champion, convinced that a night of sex the night before a fight is his secret to winning. When Kim Dan, a debt-ridden young man, becomes his new trainer, Jaekyung intends to use him to ensure he never loses again. This summary says little about the real heart of the story: the turning point lies mainly in the slow evolution of the two characters and their relationship.
⚠ Things to know before you start : The relationship starts off with a very unbalanced balance of power and a deliberately unhealthy beginning, before evolving over the course of the chapters.
It's also for an adult audience, with explicit scenes: if you like this kind of dark intrigue, you'll enjoy it, but if you don't, it's best to skip it.
Who are the characters in the Jinx webtoon?
Jinx's world revolves around fighting tournaments and the private lives of the two protagonists:
- 🥊 Joo Jaekyung: the undefeated MMA fighter, known for his bad temper.
- 🩹 Kim Dan: The young physical therapist, heavily in debt and bouncing from one odd job to the next. He looks innocent, and he often gets roughed up.
We also have :
- 👵 Kim Dan's grandmother: She raised him and is now in the hospital undergoing cancer treatment, with Dan covering the costs.
- 📣 Joo Jaekyung's coach: His name isn't mentioned, but he regularly coaches his athlete.
Other characters come and go, like Joo Jaekyung's ex or the bailiffs after Kim Dan.
Where can you read Jinx in French (free and official version)?
The short answer: the only source official and up-to-date is Lezhin (https://www.lezhinfr.com/), the publisher of the webtoon.
It's not free, and the French translation is only partial. This is precisely why so many people fall back on free scan sites to read their favorite webtoons (including Jinx), which are more complete in French, but unofficial and unstable.
| Platform | Language | Access | Catalog |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lezhin (official) | VO + FR partial | Paying, in chapter | Up to date and reliable, but few FR |
| Betomanga | FR | Free | A few chapters, unstable |
| Scan-manga | FR | Free | More complete, but unofficial |
- ✅ Lezhin The best option if you want to support the author and read in stable conditions (no disappearing chapters, no dubious advertising). The first episode is free, after that it's pay-per-view.
- ✅ Betomanga A few chapters translated into French, perfect for testing the story for free before taking the plunge. The catalog remains limited and changes frequently.
- ✅ Scan-manga the most complete selection of free VF, with more chapters published. Bear in mind that this is an unofficial source: availability and quality are not guaranteed.
No matter which platform you choose, one thing remains true: only Lezhin gives you access to the most up-to-date version, online and without interruptions. Paying per chapter is also the best way to support the author.
As far as scan sites are concerned, it's best to bear in mind the copyright issue: these versions do not respect the author's rights, which explains their unstable availability.
👌 The right reflex: Try it for free on Betomanga or Scan-manga, then switch to Lezhin if you like it, so you can read the rest of the webtoon in a comfortable setting and support Mingwa.

Why is Jinx one of BL's best webtoons?
If Jinx deserves its place among the best BL webtoons to read, it's not by chance. Where many webtoons of the same genre rely on easy romance, Mingwa's story takes the time to delve into its characters, their flaws and the unhealthy power relationship that initially unites them.
The author, already well-known in the Korean webtoon world thanks to *BJ Alex*, delivers an adult romance here that doesn’t shy away from its raw tone. And since the entire world of Jinx revolves around MMA fights, this tension remains constant from start to finish: it is this tension, more than the romance, that makes Jinx one of the author’s best webtoons.
