How to beat Insect-type Pokémon?

The Attacks of the Flying, Fire, or Rock type are the best options for ending the fight in one or two hits.

1. Theft-Type Attacks

the type Flight is super efficient against the Bug type. Your Flying-type attacks deal ×2 damage, enough to take down a Bug-type Pokémon very quickly.

2. Fire-type attacks

the Fire type is the other major weakness of Bug-type Pokémon. A Fire Attack also deals ×2 damage to them, unless a second type modifies this weakness.

3. Roche-type attacks

the Roche type rounds out the trio. A Roche attack multiplies its damage x2 against a Bug-type Pokémon, just like Flying and Fire.

What are the strengths and resistances of Insect-type Pokémon?

These type interactions have been stable since the Gen 2, so they also apply in Pokémon Écarlate et Violet.

Insect-Type Resistors

A Bug-type Pokémon takes a hit half the damage (×0.5) facing three guys:

Insect-type Pokémon characteristics

The Insect type is one of the 18 types from the main series. Today, there are approximately 100 Pokémon featuring this type, including some of the best-known ones such as Chenipan and Dardargnan to the rarest ones, such as Genesect.

These Pokémon share a common theme: they resemble real insects and follow a natural life cycle (larva, pupa, adult). Two characteristics often stand out:

• They reach early in their development, sometimes before level 15, such as Chenipan which becomes Chrysacier very soon.
• Their basic statistics remain below average, especially in the early stages.

The Bug type has as many weaknesses as it does resistances (3 of each): Fire, Theft and rock They hurt him. Strategically speaking, a good move is to back him up with an ally who can cover his weaknesses.

Be aware of two special cases. Arceus and Silvallié are not Bug-type Pokémon by nature. Arceus adopts this guy by holding the Insect Plaquewhile Silvallié takes it with the Insect ROM. Without these items, they remain Normal-type.
