List of the Various Hokage in Naruto

Each Hokage is the leader of the Hidden Leaf Village, located in the Land of Fire. They succeeded one another as heads of Konoha in the order listed below.

First Hokage: Hashirama Senju

Hashirama Senju is the First Hokage and the founder of Konoha as the founder alongside his former rival Madara Uchiwa. The Hokage Hashirama Senju is the one who established the entire shinobi village system.

2nd Hokage: Tobirama Senju

He founded the Anbu and lays the institutional groundwork for Konoha.

He named his successor before falling in battle during the First Great Ninja War: to enable his team (including Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzō Shimura) from escaping, he acts as a decoy against the Force of Kinkaku, led by the Brothers of Gold and Silver of Kumogakure, and lost his life there.

3rd Hokage: Hiruzen Sarutobi

Hiruzen Sarutobi is the Third Hokage. Trained at a young age by Hashirama and Tobirama, the Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi leads Konoha twice. He resumed the position after the death of Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage.

Nicknamed the Teacher Because he has mastered all the village's jutsu, he is also the master of Jiraya, Tsunade and Orochimaru, the three legendary ninjas known as Sannin.

His reign was brief, but he remains one of the greatest ninjas in the village's history. Thanks to his technique of instant teleportation, he defeated them all by himself a thousand enemy ninjas.

Jiraya is one of the three Sannin and one of the most famous ninjas in the history of Konoha. A former student of Hiruzen Sarutobi, he is considered one of the leading natural candidates for the title of Hokage following the death of the Third. However, he turned down the position twice, notably so that Tsunade Senju be appointed in her place.

Jiraya is also the master of Naruto Uzumaki and the clan's godfather Uzumaki in reality. His death at the hands of Pain is one of the most memorable moments in the anime.

Candidate for the 8th Hokage: Shikamaru Nara (in Boruto)

In *Boruto: Naruto Next Generations*, Shikamaru Nara initially serves as acting Hokage following Naruto's disappearance—he is presumed dead.

Later in the manga, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, the village elders offer him the position of permanent Hokage once his three-year interim term has ended, but Shikamaru is reluctant to fully assume the title, and his exact status (official vs. still transitional) remains a point of contention depending on the source, including among manga fans.

What is a Hokage?

A Hokage is the chief and principal protector of the village of Konoha. The word comes from Kage, which refers to the highest rank among the shinobi of a hidden village. The title combines two ideas: the Fire (the one from the Land of Fire) and the’shadow (Kage). Hokage therefore literally means In the Shadow of the Fire, a leader who works behind the scenes to protect his village.

The Hokage is not infallible. He has his strengths and weaknesses, but he devotes all his power to Konoha. A advice from high-ranking ninjas He participates as he sees fit, and he leads the village until he hands over power or until his death.

How does one become Hokage?
