1. Download a map Minecraft
Start by downloading the map of your choice. The website below offers several map types : survival, adventure, parkour, and many more.

2. Extract the ZIP file
On Minecraft Java, the map is usually downloaded as an archive .zip. You have to extract it to retrieve the world file.
- Make a right click on the .zip file and select “Extract All” (Windows).
- You can also use WinRAR Where 7-Zip for extraction.
- Once the folder has been extracted, you can delete the .zip.
On the Bedrock version
On Bedrock, it's easier to use. The map is usually downloaded in the format .mcworld, recognized directly by the game.
- After downloading, you should have a file .mcworld on your device.
- If that's not the case, rename the file .zip in .mcworld, then extract it into a new folder (for example “world”).
- Double-click the file: it should open directly in Minecraft.

3. Open the Minecraft folder on your PC (Java)
The file saves is the location where Minecraft Java stores all your worlds. To access them on Windows, press Windows + R, type %appdata%, then open this folder by following this path: %appdata% ⇒ .minecraft ⇒ saves.
On Mac, open the folder .minecraft via the Finder by following this path:
- User ⇒ Library ⇒ Application Support ⇒ minecraft.
- If the library cannot be found: open the Finder, click “Go” in the menu bar while holding down the ALT, then select Library.
On linux :
- Do ALT + F2, then type .minecraft to find the folder.

On Bedrock, the folder you're trying to find isn't named saves but games/com.mojang. The worlds are stored in the subfolder minecraftWorlds.
Here's how to open this folder depending on your device:

4. Copy and paste your "map" folder into the correct folder
- Open the folder saves (Java) or minecraftWorlds (Bedrock), where all your worlds are stored. If you've already installed a mod Minecraft, you'll also find your content in these folders.
- Copy then glue the MAP folder extracted in step 2 into this folder.
5. Load your Minecraft map
Launch Minecraft, select the map you just installed, and explore your new world in survival or creative. If the map doesn't launch, check that its version matches your version of Minecraft.

Before installing a map on your Minecraft server
Some prerequisites must be checked before installation. Without these checks, you may run into some unpleasant surprises when you launch the program.
- Version compatibility : Make sure the map version matches your server's version.
- Mods : Avoid maps that use mods not available on your server, unless you install those mods yourself.
- Control blocks : Be sure to enable them if your map requires them.

Method 1: Replace the default world
