On RSL, you should always try to summon during X2 (boost where you have twice the chance of getting epics and legendaries). Or at X10 when you're close to your pity (x15 boost = on specific champions). For beginners who aren't looking for specific champions, it's important to do X2. The x15 only if the epics are good or if you're close to your pity. So don't forget to calculate the number of OPEN shards since your last legendary.
